Both programs emulate email POP3 and FTP servers accordingly. This way they can recover passwords from *any* email or FTP program. They grab your password and then display it to you both inside the program itself and by the means of email or FTP. Both programs have all that is needed for successful password recovery: "hosts" file helper, local email or FTP server emulation, easy change of TCP port in use, password box ready to copy-n-paste, "start" and "stop" buttons.
